Philanthropy

The Bay is the first major civic initiative that all five of Sarasota’s local foundations have supported from the beginning. Their support has led the way in ensuring The Bay became a reality for the community.

“The Bay initiative is establishing a cultural and economic legacy for the region while ensuring open, public access to the bayfront. With future phases that include an abundance of green space and the preservation of natural shorelines, the 53-acre bayfront park is poised to enhance the future well-being of our environment and community.”

Teri A Hansen
President & CEO

“The Bay offers an opportunity to ensure our area provides an atmosphere that bridges generations and unites our community by offering unique experiences where everyone who visits feels they belong. These gifts uphold the spirit of inclusivity and community pride that ignited The Bay.”

Roxie Jerde
President & CEO

“I am proud to say that we have instrumentally supported The Bay since its inception in 2013. The implementation of a long-term master plan for 53 acres of city-owned land along Sarasota Bay that will establish a cultural and economic legacy for the region is transformative in itself.”

Mark Pritchett
President & CEO

“The success of The Bay's transformation is a credit to community engagement, guiding principles, and leadership - both volunteer and paid - delivering excellence in every dimension. You have consistently envisioned, guided and worked tirelessly to create this regional jewel.”

Debra Jacobs

“The Bay is a special place… created with inclusive design features that enrich the environment and attract people for experiences outdoors. What an environmental and cultural treasure it is in Sarasota.”
